To all my friends out there who are never failing in their sincere friendship and kindness to stay in touch.  May I return the favour by wishing them all, wherever they may be, my very best wishes for this New Year, and my hope that we will meet again at some of our concerts in March.

Much love to you all,

Patrick.

Dear Friends:

I've just returned from some lovely concerts.  I played in Wales and found some beautiful, sunny weather, which is most unusual for that part of the country.  The sea sparkled in the sun as I walked along the beach.  I then went to CO. Mayo where I did a concert with Fiona Murphy (Donna Elvira at Lismore this summer).  It was a lovely evening!

Much love to you all, I hope to see you in the spring!

Dear friends:

I have just returned from a delightful cruise on the Mediterranean with a great team of musicians who were a delight to be with.  We had two whole days in Venice with lovely warm weather.  I ventured out to a little island called Burano, not Murano where they make beautiful coloured glass.  I spent the day exploring this unique and quiet backwater talking to the people there and drinking wine surrounded by beautiful and vividly coloured flowers. We also stopped at the lovely Greek Island of Corfu and the beautiful old walled city of Dubrovnic.  In all, the weather and the music in the good company of friends made it a most delightful experience.

Love ... Paddy

Dear friends:

I thought you might like to know that I've been touring Scotland doing 9 concerts up as far as the Highlands and beyond Inverness.   We were a group of singers performing opera and operetta selections and the singers were first class, which makes all the difference.  The venues varied from small theatres and halls, to palatial houses and Victorian large town halls.  We were a merry little group traveling around in 4 cars.  All in all, we had a lot of fun and successfully entertained our audiences!  Despite the inclement weather, we had great numbers at our performances and 5 of them were completely sold out.  And like good dogs, our noses stayed cold and we stayed healthy!

With the snow and weather conditions being a bit unhelpful, driving was a tad hazardous.  But fortunately my car is Swedish and was well suited to these snowy conditions and I always arrived first at our venues!  But the scenery was magical to behold, beautiful trees dressed in their wintry garb with branches outstretched as if to welcome us into their natural habitat, and mountains in the background like some exotic stage picture just waiting for the curtain to rise.

So I have just arrived home to find the snow has returned to Greenland and amazingly a few spring flowers are just peeping out.

God's in his heaven and all is right with the world.

Love to all ..... Paddy

The cruise was very enjoyable with a very nice cross-section of singers and musicians. The weather was really nice;  we were bathed in sunshine under warm blue skies whilst everywhere else was kneedeep in icy winds and snow.  The cruise was a great success and the passengers were very complimentary to us all.

Valdemosa on the island of Marjorca where Fredrick Chopin lived with his mistress Baroness Dudevant, who wrote novels under the name George Sand, is quite remarkable situated high up in the mountains with remarkable views of the sea and surrounding countryside, and we had a recital of some of his Piano and some of his lesser known songs.

Then Rome was a tremendous "nostalgie du temps perdu" for me as I wandered through the narrow streets and byways of my youth, having lunch in a little Trattoria, much loved by friends where we all would gather most days.

And now back to reality.  Merry Christmas to you all!

Patrick

As I have been traveling, I don't have all the information yet about my next cruise, but I wanted to share what I know for now.

Our ship leaves from Southhampton docks November 18 and returns December  14.  It is aclassical Music Cruise with singers, string trios and quartets, soloists violin and piano (not me), and choral concerts.

There will be performances featuring some 200 or so of the passengers, which I help with. The ship is one of the P and O Fleet and is sailing to the Eastern Mediteranian, which I think will include Istanbul, Kiev, and St. Petersburg, with trips to the Opera and Ballet. I shall be kept very busy with the singers and also training the passengers in their music for their on-stage appearances.  I also have to do two one-man shows, and keep popping up on and off throughout the cruise. It is, however, enjoyable.  Most of the artists are very very nice.

And OH! the joy of not having to pack up and travel elsewhere.  We have very good passenger accomodation, (I have a very nice outside cabin), and the food will have me looking like a Sumo wrestler on my return!

More later, my friends!  Paddy

To my wonderful fans:  I am so very grateful to all the people who submitted my name to the Irish Music Association in nomination for the 2010 Lifetime Achievement Award.  I am deeply honoured by your nominations! I wish to sincerely thank each and everyone of my dear fans for their appreciation of my work in music through the years.  It has been a joy throughout my life, and your friendship has meant the world to me.

To all the friends and fans whose lovely messages and greetings I received at Christmas ~ may I say how touched and grateful I was to partake in their kind and loving greetings of good will. Although I haven't been able to answer each and every one individually, I am very touched and grateful to have received such warm and touching sentiments from across the sea. May I wish one and all every blessing and good fortune for the year ahead.

Dear Friends:

I will be doing a radio interview in Minneapolis when I get there in two weeks time.  It will be with a very important classical music programme which goes all over America.  They have 2.5 million listeners; it is the leading classical radio programme in the States.  I believe I'll be doing a television interveiw, as well!

The Gilbert and Sullivan is creating quite a stir, it is opening a new theatre.  I have already done a number of radio interviews.

Much Love....Patrick

Webmaster's Note:  We are attempting to secure copies of these interviews for Patrick's Official website.  Stay tuned....

Dear Friends:

I was very interested to hear from you all and very happy you enjoyed our concerts. Anthony was also very interested to hear your comments and asked to be remembered to you, as well.

I am taking a little time off to return to Rome where I studied many years ago and so looking forward to revisiting many of the beautiful places I knew so well, and meeting the many friends and musicians who are still living there. It will be a journey of nostalgie du temps perdu.

So once again, greetings and many thanks from us both. I am so looking forward to seeing you all on our Autumn tour.

PATRICK.

August 3, 2008

Dear friends and all who sent me such lovely cards and birthday greetings:

I was deeply touched that so many remembered my birthday and went to the trouble of getting in touch; it meant a great deal to me.

I know you will understand if I am unable to answer each greeting individually, but to you all I say thank you so much, and to those who will be able to come to see us in October on our tour we will both be delighted to see you.

I am about to sail off on a cruise to the Bosphorus and the Ukraine. We have a lovely selection of musicians on this classical music cruise: a string quartet, a brass ensemble, 4 singers, and a classical guitarist.

We leave from Southampton, calling to Lisbon, Athens, Istanbul, Yalta Ukraine, Cairo Egypt, Palma Majorca, Malta, and then back to England just in time to set off with Anthony for our U.S. tour, so it is a busy time ahead.

Once again dear friends, thanks so much for your friendship and see you in October.

Much love to you all,

PATRICK.
